Ice Banks

Ice Banks

In our systems we mainly use Ice Banks when chilled water of 0oC is required.

Such cases exist in milk industry for raw milk cooling and milk cooling after pasteurization, in bakery industry for cooling dough water in the mixers and wherever cold water of 0oC is used in direct or indirect contact with food products.

In many applications Ice Banks are required to serve peak loads when installed refrigeration capacity is not adequate. The benefit of Ice Banks in such cases is the lower electricity cost tariffs of nightly compressor operation to produce a cooling storage by producing ice in the Ice Bank.

Stored cooling capacity of one single unit can be from 50 kWh to 2000 kWh

Ice Bank coils are made of stainless steel or galvanized steel if water is not in direct contact with product.

Ice Bank water tank is made of galvanized or stainless steel sheets with a solid stainless steel frame support. External insulation is applied.

Refrigerant can be HFCs, ammonia or glycol.

Water agitation system is applied consisting of an air-blower which produces turbulence for best water stirring.

Our company collaborates with the Greek Icabank manufacturing company FBC which produces the units according to our design.
